George Romero's Garden.
I'm walking home the other day, and took a mental note of all the yellow flowers that were out (including a few 12ft tall sunflowers). I took some photos on the way; most were pretty but dull. This one was the most interesting of them all. The use of a flash, which really pumped up the colour and brilliance of the flower closest to the camera and made the background dark (this was mid-afternoon), helps bring depth and range to the shot. There is something really assertive about the flower closest to the camera - I can't help but anthropomorphize it into an unblinking eye. I then get thinking about zombie flowers, and fields of these rustling ominously in the wind, staring intently at me, waiting for a crack at my brain pan.
