Weekend at Cottage, Part 5: Interior Design Elements.

As mentioned, Tanya's Aunt, who owns the cottage, is an interior designer. Good design should be centred around a specific theme, tying everything together. The theme for this cottage: The Moose. There are so many moose in that place, in so many forms, from carved, to silhouettes, to pieces (antlers), to paintings: everywhere you look, there's another. Sounds kinda scary, but the particular brilliance of this place is that it all ties in together without being tacky (kitschy, sure, but never tacky) or overwhelming. It is so comfortably a cottage, inside and out.

This is detail of a small shelf, set on a wall in between two windows:

This looks into the kitchen. See how many moose you can pick out!
(Actually, in this shot, maybe three, definitely two)

The following two pictures are of a chandelier homemade by the Uncle, from antler's and forest woods. It hangs over the table.

Finally, one of the few non-moose related items is this lamp, depicting a raging forest fire in the mountains, beside a lovely river, done in a gorgeous paint-by-numbers colour palette and style.
